I’m a busy girl with simple needs: I need to find new clients, and keep the ones I have happy.

Other than this, (forgive me) I want to shut out the world, have some private time, and maybe enjoy a bit of RUM.

I’ve set up my Blogs, my Websites, my multiple email addresses, and yes – my cell phone is almost always on.

LinkedIn profile, check. Facebook, check. Technorati, Blog Catalog, YouTube. Check, check, and check.

And now it seems that I simply must use TWITTER.

Twitter (for those of you who don’t know) is a free online social media service that enables it’s members (“tweeple”) to send and read other members frequent updates known as “tweets”.

With a 140 character limitation (yes, I said characters, not words) tweets are like public text-messages – making Twitter something of a microblogging community.

When you become a Twitter member, you can “follow” thousands of tweeple, and thousands (or nobody) may want to follow you.

The question is:

Who really has the time for these tweets, and does this sound like something that will benefit you and your Business?

Marketing expert Seth Godin has said he believes it’s all a waste of time. I suspect he may be right.

And yet, everywhere I look, social media experts are espousing the benefits of Twitter.

It is quite possible, I suppose, that I (like many others) simply don’t “get” Twitter.

Robert Strohmeyer has written a great article that looks at things from that perspective (with a link to an alternate view).

But now it’s time for my confession: I’ve nearly been sucked into Twitter on a few occasions. (And it is my fear that once I succumb I may never turn back).

And yet, something about Twitter doesn’t seem quite right to me – yet.

Where is the logic in Tweets? Where is the value in Tweets?

Or does logic or value no longer matter?

Am I slipping into darkness?

Am I old? Delusional?

After all, even Oprah is tweeting now.

What do you think?

Are You A Twit If You Love Twitter?

Or Am I Twit If I Don’t?
